Allen Norman, Former Member of New Rochelle Police Foundation, Dies

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — On December 3 Allen Norman, Jr. made his transition. The first of five children, Allen Norman, Jr. was born in Mt. Vernon, New York, to Allen and Eva Norman on September 16, 1949. As the only brother to four sisters, Allen developed a keen sense for protecting, nurturing and assisting his family, attributes which he also generously extended to friends. Allen attended the Mt. Vernon public schools and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School, where he was a skilled football player, in 1968. Capitalizing on his interest in business and commerce, Allen continued his education at Oneonta State College (SUNY), majoring in Economics. He subsequently completed the Executive Marketing Program at Fordham University. Following graduation from Oneonta, he put his degree to use immediately at Xerox Corporation where he crafted a stellar career in sales and marketing. During his 15 years at Xerox, Allen was awarded numerous Xerox President’s Club awards for outstanding marketing and sales achievements. His standout performance earned him several promotions including to the position of Branch Sales Manager. Cortesia came into Al’s life in 1967. Summer love bloomed into marriage eight years later in 1975. They were blessed with two sons – Nicholas and Christopher -whom they raised with enormous care and pride.

Allen believed in giving back to the community. He invested his time and resources in countless charitable and educational organizations, such as The Boys & Girls Club of Mt. Vernon, Project Genesis, Exodus Management Consulting for Mt. Vernon School District, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and the New Rochelle Police Foundation where he served as a member of the board of directors. He frequently visited schools to share his experiences as a businessman and eagerly lent a helping hand to any business owner who sought assistance. He received numerous honors and recognitions for his civic activities, including a proclamation from the Mayor of the City of Mt. Vernon. 

Al had a penchant for friendship, fellowship and camaraderie as represented by his membership in Zeta Boulè, Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and various circles of friends dedicated to playing cards, tennis and golf. He was a man of faith and communed with Mt. Vernon Alliance Church for over 20 years.
