NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College women’s basketball team fell to Gateway Community College, 73-56, in a game played in New Rochelle on Sunday. Fatoumata Coulibaly had a career day as she earned her first-ever double-double. Gabrielle Jubinville had her second-straight one as well.
Monroe never led in the game and even fell down by ten points in the first quarter. A bucket from Jubinville and a three-pointer and layup from Camilla Kilinc made the score 17-14 at the end of the first quarter. Gatway pulled away in the second quarter and went on to win, 73-56.
Jubinville had 24 points and 11 rebounds. Coulibaly had ten points and 11 boards. She also had a game-best, four steals. Kilinc finished with 14 points for the Mustangs. Destini Green dished out a game-high seven assists.
The Monroe College women’s basketball team returns to action on Thursday, January 21, when they face Harford Community College in Maryland. The tipoff is slated for 5:00 PM.
