NEW ROCHELLE, NY — In an effort to provide support to local retail businesses, the City of New Rochelle established a Retail Business Registration Program in 2015, requiring all businesses to register with the City and renew their registration annually. The information collected will assist in the creation of a comprehensive business directory, and be used to share emergency alerts as well as notification of business-related events and opportunities.
Businesses are reminded that this year’s renewal deadline is January 31, 2016.
There is NO FEE to register; however, failure to register / renew by the deadline could result in a penalty of $50 per month, up to a maximum of $350. Businesses can sign up online at www.newrochelleny.com/business. The information portal is available in both English and Spanish.
A retail business is defined as any for-profit commercial operation or occupation, of any kind, including, without limitation, any sole proprietorship, partnership, limited partnership, joint venture, association, corporation, limited liability company, franchisee, cooperative, or any other entity recognized by law that owns, leases, or occupies any premises in the City, and is engaged in the sale of goods or services that are subject to New York state sales tax. The registration requirement includes the retail store component of any not-for-profit entity. All non-retail businesses in New Rochelle are encouraged to register.
