Woman Loses Wallet, Unknown Person Uses Debit Card: An unknown person allegedly stole a New Rochelle woman’s wallet Feb. 14 while she was shopping at Home Goods store on Petersville Road. The victim told police the person then charged her credit card. The complaint told police she went to the store at approximately 5:30 p.m. Feb. 13, placed her wallet in her basket, and walked away from the shopping cart several times. When she arrived to the register, she told police she noticed her wallet was missing. The store manager agreed to review security video footage, the police report said. The complainant cancelled her credit cards, but noticed someone tried unsuccessfully to charge her card at a Target store located in Pelham, the police report said. She contacted the Mount Vernon police, who told her they help, the New Rochelle Police report said. 

Thief Steals Apple IPad from Vehicle: New Rochelle Police responded to a complaint about theft of an Apple IPod from a parked car Feb. 14 in New Rochelle. The complainant told police she parked her car about 3 p.m. Feb. 13 and when she returned to her vehicle the following day, she found the front passenger side window broken, the police report said. She told police someone allegedly broke the window and stole a messenger bag, which contained an Apple IPad and personal papers. No security camera were in the area, according to the police report.

Gold Necklace Stolen from Car Parked in Library Lot: An unknown suspect allegedly stole a gold necklace Feb. 18 from inside a car parked at a New Rochelle library. The complainant told police he parked his 2003 Chevrolet Silverado at the library parking lot between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and someone allegedly opened the passenger side door, which does not lock and stole a brown cardboard box containing a gold necklace. No other items were missing and there was no damage to the car, he told police. Police believe a security camera placed in the parking lot may have captured the incident, the report said.

Unknown Person Hits Pedestrian near Lockwood Avenue: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a pedestrian who was allegedly hit by a vehicle Feb. 18 while crossing a street near Lockwood Avenue. According to the report, police arrived at the scene and discovered the victim lying on the ground. Although conscious and alert, she was complaining about pain on the left side of her body, the police report said. Police interviewed the driver of the car, who told officers he was traveling west bound on Lockwood Avenue when a vehicle in front of him turned right onto Guion Place. As he continued to drive through the intersection of Lockwood Avenue and Guion Place, glare obstructed his vision, he told police. Unable to see clearly, the driver told police he struck the victim, who was crossing the street on a crosswalk in front of his vehicle. No one witnessed the incident, the police report said. The victim was transported to Montefiore Hospital in New Rochelle and was later discharged, the report said. 

Unknown Suspect Charges Woman’s Credit Card: A New Rochelle woman discovered that her credit card has been charged Feb. 18 by an unknown suspect. The complainant told police that at approximately 10:18 a.m., she received a text message from her bank alerting her about suspicious charges that were made to her credit card. She told police that $1,400 was charged to her card in a foreign country. 

Police Discount Burglary Claim by Elderly Woman: An elderly New Rochelle woman claimed that her home was invaded and a book and her social security card stolen Feb. 18. The complainant told police she left her apartment around 9 a.m. Feb. 11 and locked her apartment. However, she told police, when she returned four days later on Feb. 15, she found her dead bolt lock unlocked but the other lock still intact. She told police that someone allegedly entered her apartment and stole her social security card and a book from the shelf. Police did not find any damage to the locks and could not determine a point of entry. The police officer was not convinced that a burglary had occurred, according to the police report.

Doctor’s Office Reports Prescription Forgery: A worker at a New Rochelle doctor’s office reported forged prescriptions Feb. 18. According to a New Rochelle Police report, a medical assistant from the doctor’s office told police that between Feb. 11 and Feb. 16, three different pharmacies called the office to verify prescriptions. The complainant told police the pharmacies were told that the prescriptions were fraudulent. Six prescriptions with two patients names were dropped off at the office, she told police. The patients’ information did not match office records, the police report said. The complainant notified the DEA’s office and a fraud alert on the doctor’s prescription account was issued, the police report said.

Four Arrested on Various Charges: Four people were arrested in New Rochelle on various charges:

Pazal Mohammed, 29 of Hicksville, N.Y. was arrested Feb. 14 and charged with one of criminal possession of drugs with intent to sell and two counts of criminal possession of controlled substances.

Katerina Aguiar, 48 of Stamford, Conn., was arrested and charged Feb. 19 with one count of driving while intoxicated by drugs and one count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Juan Salvador Soto-Vega, 21 of Bronx, N.Y. was arrested and charged Feb. 18 on one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of criminal possession of drugs with intent to sell. 

Albert Escalera, 23 of N.Y. was arrested Feb. 18 and charged with one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance and one count of petit larceny.
