NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Jane R. Shanley, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, passed away on March 20, 2016 at the age of 99. Jane was born in Ireland on July 7, 1916 to the late Thomas and Mary Ann (Rankin) Rooney.
Jane and her beloved husband Thomas Shanley were married on March 26, 1951 and shared many cherished memories. Sadly she was predeceased by her loving husband Thomas in 1981. Jane is also predeceased by two sisters, Buddy and Rita, and by two brothers, Thomas and Bernard.Her memory will be cherished by many adoring nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and great-grandnieces.
Jean, as she was affectionately known to her family, had a flair for dancing, ranging in style from ballroom to tap. For years she was a volunteer in the New Rochelle Meals on Wheels program. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visiting will be Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 3-7pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc. 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle, NY. A funeral mass is scheduled for Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 9:30am at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Queens.
