NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The History of New Rochelle is rich and we will have tourists from all over the world come visit here.” Stated Jim Killoran, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Westchester This is an afternoon of New Rochelle History, recognition of its past citizens, architecture and buildings, as well as recognizing historic neighborhoods that need to be maintained.
On May 26th the New Rochelle High School Art department will open an exhibit at our new Art Gallery space 659 Main Street, New Rochelle, NY 10801.
Associate curator, Tom Daly of the Norman Rockwell museum will dedicate the space May 29th in honor of the future Norman Rockwell’s in New Rochelle and will speak about Norman Rockwell’s life in New Rochelle as well as his relationship with JFK whose Birthday is May 29th.
Historic tours will begin starting in the Gateways of New Rochelle at 659 Main Street opposite the Carnegie Library in front of where Mark Twain writings were published.
“There are 82 historic sites and we believe this will be an exciting program. ‘45 minutes away from Broadway,’ (more like 20 minutes on the Metro North) came a song about New Rochelle, and brings back memories of Norman Rockwell, swing dancing at Glenn Island, Eddie Foy, the Lowes Theater, and Rag Time.
