NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College Women’s Track & Field team recently completed its outdoor season with a fourth-place showing at the NJCAA National Championship in Levelland, TX. Shortly thereafter, the USTFCCCA & NJCAA recognized nine members of the team as All-Americans, including Breaisha Morton, who was named an All-American in four different events.
Morton, who has already committed to Clemson in the fall, was selected for her outstanding performance this season at the 100 and 400 meter hurdles as well as the high jump and triple jump. Morton, from Paterson, NJ, placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a clocking of 14.11 and also in the 400 hurdles (1:02.81). She also came in eighth in the high jump (1.66 M) and was the runner-up in the triple jump, leaping a distance of 12.58 meters.
Susan Ejore, Nokuthula Dlamini, and Zakiya Denoon earned All-American accolades in three different events. Ejore was feted in the 800, the 1500 and the 4X800 relay. Dlamini was honored for her performances in the 1500, the 5000 and the 4X800 relay, while Denoon found spots for the 100, 200 and 4X100 relay.
Tristan Eveyln was lauded for the 100 and the 4X100 relay, while Denesha Ransome and Ariane Strunkey earned slots on the 4X100 relay team and Jrenda Rivera and Tashay Roberts getting placed on the 4X800.
Head Coach Lesleigh Hogg summed up the season and accomplishments: “This is a well-deserved honor for the women. They led this team to one of the best seasons in program history. It was a pleasure to coach them and we have even loftier expectations for next year.”
