NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Iona College women’s outdoor track & field grad student Tara Jameson concluded her Iona career with a second team All-American performance with her 16th place finish in the 5,000-meter final at the 2016 NCAA Championships at the University of Oregon’s historic Hayward Field.
In the final day of women’s competition, Jameson finished in 16th place with a time of 16:29.18. Arkansas senior and South African Olympic hopeful Dominque Scott finished in first at 15:57.07 to complete a 10k/5k sweep.
The University of Arkansas took home the National Championship title with 72.00 points.
Jameson grabbed her second All-American honor, earning her first after finishing in seventh in the 10,000 meter final on Thursday night. Her season also included a new personal-best of 16:08.91 at the NCAA East Prelims and was also the MAAC 5,000 meter champion this season.
In her career, she earned the individual title in the 2015 MAAC Cross Country Championships. As well as the 10,000 meter run title at the 2014 MAAC Outdoor Championships and the 5,000 and 3,000 titles at the 2014 MAAC Indoor Championship.
