Alice Hodge, an eighth-grade student of Ursuline School placed second in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association State Girls Golf Championships at Bethpage Yellow in Farmingdale, according to the City School District of New Rochelle. This was Alice Hodge’s second time competing in the competition.

Alice Hodge’s sister, Caroline Hodge, who also attends Ursuline School, won sixth place. This was Caroline Hodge’s fourth appearance in the championships.

“I’m really excited about how I played,” said Alice Hodge, whose previous best was a 74.

“And I think the team played great. It was a whole team effort,” she said.

Lauren Peter, a sophomore at Carmel, tied with Alice Hodges and placed second. It was a second straight runner-up finish for Peter, the two-time reigning Section 1 champ.

Despite the difficult course and rainy weather, Alice Hodge finished the two-day tournament at even par, turning in a 1 under par, 71 on day one and then following it up with a 1 over 73 in the rain on the final day, according to the City School District of New Rochelle. Caroline Hodge shot a 2 over, 74 on day one and then shot a 77 on day two.

“The girls were amazing again,” said Suffern coach George Kunzmann, the Section 1 coordinator.

The sisters were part of the Section 1 State Team, after finishing third and second respectively, in the Section 1 Individual Championships. The Section 1 team won the N.Y. State Team title for the second year in a row, according to the City School District of New Rochelle. Alice and Caroline Hodge also led Ursuline’s League and Section Team Championship team this year, according to the information provided.

The Hodge sisters finished with the highest score in the school’s history. According to the City School District of New Rochelle, at least one golfer from Ursuline School has attended the event since its inception in 1996.
