WHITE PLAINS, NY — County Executive Robert P. Astorino invites everyone to experience a day-long salute to the traditions of Ireland at the annual Irish Heritage Day Sunday, July 31, 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at Ridge Road Park in Hartsdale. This year’s heritage day will be dedicated to commemorating the centennial anniversary remembrance of the 1916 Easter Uprising. The event is part of a series of cultural heritage festivals held in the parks on weekends during the summer.

“If everyone’s got a little Irish in them, then the perfect place to celebrate is at this annual Irish Heritage Day where you will be immersed in the music, dance and art of the Irish culture,” Astorino said.

Mass begins at 1 p.m. on the stage. Entertainment includes the Tara Gold Band, Susan Gillespie and Gerard Irish Band, a bagpipe band performance and the Deirdre O’Mara School of Irish Dancers.

There will be many vendors on site where festival-goers can shop for arts, crafts, jewelry, clothing and more. Children will enjoy games and other activities planned for them.

Admission is $5 per adult. Children under 14 are admitted free. Parking is free. Seating is informal so bring blankets or chairs for seating on the lawn. The festival will be held rain or shine. No coolers will be allowed.
