WHITE PLAINS, NY — Commissioner Helen Diane Foster today announced the New York State Division of Human Rights has opened a regional office in White Plains. The office, previously located in Peekskill, officially opened to the public on July 15, 2016. The address is 7-11 South Broadway, Suite 314, White Plains, NY 10601.

“This new location offers better access to the community,” said Commissioner Foster. “It will help meet the needs of the growing populations in the Hudson Valley.”

In 2015, the Division received 604 complaints from this region. Of these, 529 were employment discrimination complaints, 40 alleged housing discrimination and 27 alleged discrimination by places of public accommodation. Since its opening, the new office has seen an increase in the number of complaints filed by walk-in visitors.

The Division will hold a ribbon cutting at the office in the fall. The event will serve as an open house, where the Commissioner will welcome local elected officials and other community stakeholders.
