Over 150 Volunteers Participated in CEZ New Rochelle Clean-up Day!

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Councilman Jared Rice in partnership with Habitat of Westchester, Volunteer New York!, Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, New Rochelle Municipal Housing Authority, and 1 Change at a Time hosted New Rochelle’s Community Enrichment Zone (CEZ) Clean-up day on Saturday morning. Over 150 volunteers showed up to Remington Boys & Girls Club to start the beautification along the Lincoln Avenue Corridor and in the surrounding streets between North and Clinton Avenues. People of all ages grabbed bags, rakes and gloves to help make the neighborhood more vibrant.

“I am gratified that over 150 volunteers showed up to participate in CEZ New Rochelle Clean-up day. Seeing the community come together to enhance the beauty of this important section of our City is rewarding. I want to thank the partner organizations who worked to make this event so successful,” said Organizer/ Councilman Jared Rice.

CEZ New Rochelle Clean Up Day was created to encourage a green environment, while building relationships that establishes “a sense of pride in where you reside”. T-shirts and some cleaning tools were provided by Habitat of Westchester. The neighborhood clean-up day was followed with a community barbecue.

“Habitat of Westchester loves New Rochelle, and commits to working to improve this City,” says Executive Director, Jim Killoran  “As a main sponsor and facilitator, we continue as one team.”

Residents, signed up through Volunteer New Rochelle, a partnership between the City and Volunteer New York! to connect willing helpers with community organizations and initiates.

“Volunteer New York! is proud to be able to work this closely with a great City like New Rochelle to help increase volunteerism at the community level,” said Volunteer New York! Executive Director, Alisa Kesten. “This is just the start of a really great partnership.”
