NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Hundreds of teachers, administrators and staff packed the auditorium of New Rochelle High School Tuesday to take part in the annual convocation that ushered in the 2016-2017 school year.
The gathering was addressed by Brian Osborne, superintendent of schools, Rachel Relkin, president of the Board of Education; Martin Daly, president of FUSE Leadership Council and teacher at Isaac E. Young Middle School; and Joseph Starvaggi, president of Administrators and Supervisors Union and assistant principal at New Rochelle High School.
Osborne explained the five strategies that are the foundation of teaching and learning in the school district. These include a collaborative approach to education, safe and supportive schools, the high quality of the staff, community engagement and resource management.
Earlier in the morning, teachers and staff met in the cafeteria and caught up with the summer’s news over breakfast and coffee.
