NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle City Councilman Jared Rice is calling for the elimination of a provision in a proposed change to the City Charter that allow for automatic pay increases for Council Members including the Mayor
“After allowing the public process to take its course with respect to the issue of pay raises,” said Rice “I’m of the opinion that city council should maintain its current procedure.”
Rice said that while there is merit in the idea of a provision to do away with periodic larger sum raises, “many of the arguments made against automatic increases are also well reasoned.”
The council resolution is expected to be voted on at tomorrow night’a meeting.
