09/25 Astorino to Honor Gold Star Mothers at Kensico on the last Sunday in September 3 PM

WHITE PLAINS, NY — 

WHEN:          Sunday, September 25, 3:00 PM

WHAT:          County Executive Astorino will join the Westchester County Office of Veteran Services this Sunday to honor the mothers of Westchester County who have lost a son or daughter in service to our Country.

American Gold Star Mothers was formed after World War I to provide support for mothers who lost sons or daughters in the war. Today, membership in Gold Star Mothers is open to any American woman who has lost a son or daughter in service to the United States. President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared Gold Star Mother’s Day to be observed on the last Sunday in September in 1936.
