NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Sophomore Nicorey Warren (Brooklyn, NY) became the first player in the College of New Rochelle mens soccer program to score a hat trick, as he scored four times Saturday afternoon in the Blue Angels 9-0 shutout of visiting Pratt Institute.
With the win, CNR improves to 6-1 on the season, while Pratt – another first year program – suffered its first defeat and is now 2-1.
Freshmen Jovanni Garcia (Garden Grove, CA) tallied the first two goals of the match – including the first score which occurred just 30 seconds into the match. The forward would finish the day with three goals and three assists. Freshmen Gerson Arroyave Jr (Tallahassee, FL) notched his first career goal off a near perfect series of passes from two freshmen Gabriel Lopez (Madrid, Spain) and Allan Ramirez (Burgos, Spain). Arroyave would score his second of the season just two minutes later on a pass from Lopez to make it 6-0 at the half.
In the 60th minute, Warren scored his third of the match off a pass from Garcia, then just one minute later, Garcia became the 2nd player to record a hat trick as he finished off a pass from freshmen Cesar Rodriguez (Santa Ana, CA). Three minutes after that, Warren notched his fourth off a pass from Lopez.
Lopez and Garcia became the first players to have a trifecta of assists in a match. Freshmen Oscar Guido (Kendall, FL) earned his first collegiate assist as he set Garcia’s 2nd goal.
CNR outshot Pratt 26-8 (19-4 on goal) and 6-3 from corners. Freshmen Cristian Perez Del Castillo (Harrison, NY) earned his second shutout of the season making four stops.
CNR returns to the pitch Monday when they travel to the Philadelphia suburbs for a non-conference dual against Valley Forge.
