Written By: Talk of the Sound News

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The annual BID Family Fun Fall Festival begins on Saturday October 22nd, from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. Families with children ages 8 – 12 years are invited to paint seasonal scenes for Halloween and Thanksgiving on the windows of downtown businesses, beginning at 10:00 am. A mask-making geared for younger children will take place at the BID Grand Market in Ruby Dee Park at Library Green. In the event of inclement weather, a rain makeup date will be available by calling 654-2116.  Families must pre-register in order to paint a window: email ngainor@newrochelleny.com.

The Festival continues on Saturday, October 29th, when the annual Merchants Urchins Costume Parade kicks off at 9:45 am at New Street, New Roc City (in front of Regal Cinema), and winds its way to  Ruby Dee Park at Library Green, with children in costumes and their parent or caregiver walking along the sidewalks of North Avenue, Main Street and Memorial Highway.  Following the parade, all are invited to the Ruby Dee Park at Library Green to pick up treats, paint a pumpkin to take home, and enjoy the activities of the popular Grand Market.  In the event of inclement weather, the parade is cancelled and pumpkin painting will take place in the New Rochelle Public Library’s meeting room.
