NEW ROCHELLE, NY — At the end of the first half of Monday night’s Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Mens Soccer match between the College of New Rochelle and Berkeley College, those in attendance were getting what they expected – a heated 1-0 contest.
But, just 36 seconds into the 2nd half, CNR’s Nicorey Warren (Brooklyn, NY) scored his second of three goals on the night to K/O the Knights. The Blue Angels would score four more times in the next 14 minutes to push the lead to 6-0. Two more tallies set the final at 8-0.
Warren recorded his second hat trick of the season, while freshmen Allan Ramirez (Burgos, Spain) scored his first – and second – collegiate goals in the 2nd half. Freshmen Jovanni Garcia (Garden Grove, CA) connected on his team-leading 17th tally of the season and added an assist, while freshmen Cesar Rodriguez (Santa Ana, CA) scored his fifth of the season on a crafty move around two defenders and the keeper. He added two assists on the night. Freshmen Oscar Guido (Kendall, FL) recorded a pair of assists for CNR from his midfield perch. Freshmen Angel Gonzalez (Fort Lauderdale, FL) rounded out the scoring for the Blue Angels with a shot from outside the box – netting the teams 4th goal of the night.
CNR outshot Berkeley 25-4 on the night and 19-3 on goal. Both teams were limited with corner kicks as CNR held a 3-1 advantage.
CNR will travel to The Kings College on Wednesday at 8:00pm at Aviator Sports Complex.
