11/06 “Masterworks for Flute, Guitar, & Strings” Concert at Library 3 PM

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — “Masterworks for Flute, Guitar, & Strings” a concert performed by the Red Door Chamber Players, will be presented on Sunday, November 6, 2016, 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm, in the Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library. The Red Door Chamber Players, comprised of Diana Golden (cello), Morgan Pappas (flute), Daniel Keene (guitar), and Gregory K. Williams (viola), will perform a sublime program of music composed by Niccolò Paganini, Mauro Giuliani, and Franz Schubert. A donation of $2.00 is suggested at the door. The concert is made possible by the Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library. 

Performers Bios:

Cellist Diana Golden has performed in chamber music festivals such as Quartet Program of the East, Killington Music Festival, Summit, Musicorda, Zephyr and Musica Lozzo. She has recently performed on chamber music series such as Firebrand Concert Series where she is the Founder and Artistic Director, Bushwick Chamber Concerts, Music and More Chamber Series, Standing Room Concert Series, and Union City Chamber Players. Currently a doctoral candidate in Cello Performance at Rutgers University, Ms. Golden holds a Master of Arts in Cello Performance, with Distinction, from the Royal Academy of Music in London, a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Cornell University, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance from San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

New York native Daniel Keene is a guitarist, lutenist, and educator. He has concertized extensively as a soloist and chamber musician at a multitude of venues, giving recent performances at the Tilles Center, Opera America, Spectrum NYC, and Shapeshifter Lab. Mr. Keene has played with an array of groups all varying in instrumentation and style, including the Hudson Flute & Guitar Duo, Impetus Dance Collaborative, Musical Amoeba, Samadi-Keene Duo, and the Concert Pops of Long Island. An avid performer of new music, Mr. Keene has collaborated with composers all over the globe, premiering many new works on the guitar. Mr. Keene is currently on the faculty at Nassau Community College where he teaches courses in guitar and music theory.       

Morgan Pappas, a versatile flutist, chamber musician, and music educator, has performed at venues such as Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Symphony Space, and has toured internationally throughout Europe, Africa, Mexico, and the United States. She has debuted several pieces at Carnegie Hall, including a chamber commission by the New York Youth Symphony for flute, piano, and cello. Morgan is also a member of the Hudson Flute and Guitar Duo with guitarist, Daniel Keene, and is a professional member of the Westchester Band. Ms. Pappas recently graduated from Aaron Copland School of Music with a Masters in Flute Performance, and received her BM from New York University. She was the recipient of several scholarship awards, and winner of the Queens College Symphony Orchestra’s Concerto Competition. In addition to performing chamber music and freelancing throughout the NY Metropolitan area, Ms Pappas has an extensive private studio of flute and beginner piano students and consults for non-profits in the performing arts. 

Gregory K. Williams is the Acting Principal Violist of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic. He is the founding violist with Rhymes With Opera and Principal Violist with the Berkshire Opera Festival. Mr. Williams has also performed with the Albany Symphony, Symphony in C, the Syracuse Symphony, and at the Aspen Music Festival. His recent performances include recitals in the Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic, and throughout the United States. He recently presented a Lecture-Recital on the unaccompanied viola works of Günter Raphael at the American Viola Society Festival in Oberlin, Ohio. Through the Enhanced Chancellor’s Fellowship at the CUNY Graduate Center, Mr.  Williams is a candidate for the Doctorate in Viola Performance under the direction of Karen Ritscher and Linda Sinanian. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Viola Performance at Boston University and  his Master’s Degree in Viola Performance and Literature at the at the Eastman School of Music.  Mr. Williams teaches viola at the Aaron Copland School of Music at CUNY Queens College.
