NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College Women’s Cross Country team hosted its first-ever tri-meet at Van Cortlandt Park on Thursday. The Mustangs defeated Essex County the team competition. ASA didn’t have enough runners to compete in the team competition.
Monroe occupied the top three spots in the 5K run, with Susan Ejore posting the fastest time of 18:43.9. She finished over two minutes ahead of the runner up, teammate Nokuthula Dlamini, who ran to a mark of 20:53.0. Jemima Backman earned the final podium spot with a clocking of 21:35.8.
After that, Tashay Roberts came in sixth (23:01.0), and Aliyah Matta placed seventh overall (25:42.4)
Monroe placed first overall with a low score of 17 points. Essex County accumulated 38 points. The Monroe College Women’s Cross Country team will return to action on Saturday, November 5th, at the Region XV Championship in Troy, New York.
