NEW ROCHELLE, NY — If winning six straight games wasn’t impressive enough, the College of New Rochelle Womens Volleyball team has gone one step further. After its 3-0 non-conference win over John Jay College Tuesday night, CNR has now won 18 straight sets. The Blue Angels now stand at 15-9 overall while John Jay falls to 8-11.
The Blue Angels won the first set 25-12, before narrowly taking a tough sencond set 25-22. They would close out the match with a 25-17 win in the final set.
Freshmen Imani Debose (Carson, CA) led the Blue Angels with nine kills, while Victoria Alomar (Naranjito, PR) added seven put downs. Senior Tiany Perez Diaz (Juncos, PR) continued her hot streak from the service line. She added four more against John Jay to run her total over the last six matches to 24.
Senior Melanie Ann Lopez Soto (Gurabo, PR) paced CNR with 12 assists while freshmen Brianna Garcia (San Juan, PR) managed to dig nine Bloodhound attempts on the night.
CNR will be right back at it Thursday night when they host Cross County rivals the College of Mount Saint Vincent. The contest is slated for a 7pm first serve in the Wellness Center.
