Take a Delectable Art Class this Winter

Registration Now Open

Winter Semester: January 9th – March 11th, 2017

Pelham Art Center is offering creative ways to beat the winter blues for children, teens and adults.  For aspiring fashion designers and figure drawing artists there’s Fashion Figurative Illustration with Donna Ross and Life Drawing with Frank Guida.   Learn STEM concepts through digital art-making with Comics, Book Publishing A-Z, Engineering FUNdamentals using LEGO or Stop Motion Animation.  For the imaginative would-be writer or a child who needs to improve writing skills in a fun way, there’s Creative Writing .  And don’t forget about our Winter Break (Mudweek) Camp and Classes this year, February 20-24.

High School students may take any adult class.  And for art students who need to build their portfolios for college, or adults that want to dip their toes into drawing, there’s Beginning Drawing with Sylvia Vigliani and Beginners’ Drawing and Painting with Dr. Jill Kiefer. Or, push those boundaries with Anki King’s popular Experiment with Oils class!

We have a trio of new book-themed classes for adults: create your own artist books and journals in Hand Bound Books, explore your creative side in Keeping a Visual Journal, or develop your writing skills in Creative Writing.

Not sure you can commit to a full semester?  Try a short workshop to get your art-making fix. This semester we’re offering one-day sessions in Encaustic Painting, Enamel Jewelry, Pewter Repousse, Abstract Painting, the Ukrainian-based art of Egg Decorating, and more.

These are just a few of the many exciting classes available for all ages.  Registration is open now.  For information and registration go to Pelhamartcenter.org/education, or call 738 2525 x111. Stop by anytime for a catalog at 155 Fifth Ave.

And remember, while your kids are having fun, they are also improving social and motor skills, personal expression, visual communication and application for digital skills. Statistics show that children involved in the arts improve academically!  PAC instructors are great teachers, as well as professional artists in their associated mediums – so inspiring children, youth and adults alike comes naturally.
