Fuel Oil Truck Crashes into House While Garbage Truck Crashes into Tree

Written By: Robert Cox

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A fuel oil truck with a total maximum capacity of 2800 gallons crashed into the front steps of a home on Chauncey Avenue in New Rochelle shortly after 10 o’clock this morning. The driver of the truck appeared to have lost control further up the street, striking a car that was parallel parked sending it spinning out into the street coming within inches of crashing into a second car. The truck then struck a utility pole, went across the front lawn of the house at 112 Chauncey Avenue and came to rest with the front bumper on the front step of the house, just inches from the standpipe oil delivery in front of the house.

Less than a block away, on Clinton Avenue, a New Rochelle Department of Public Works sanitation truck hit a tree knocking loose a large tree limb which came crashing down under the cab, tangled up in overhead wires, including live electrical wires.

No one was injured in either incident.

New Rochelle Police, firefighters, EMTs and DPW crews responded to the dual crash scene, blocking roads leading in and out of the area.

The fuel truck is owned by N&S Oil based in Hawthorne, NY.

The house which the fuel oil truck hit is the home of Guru Madeline, a well-known figure in the New Rochelle community.
