NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Susan Goldstein Deutsch of New Rochelle died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 25th at the age of 75, next to her loving husband Ira and surrounded by family and friends. Born on March 25, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA she was the younger daughter of the late Shirley and Morton Goldstein. She moved to Larchmont in 1949.
As a proud third generation Quaker, she received a BS from the University of Pennsylvania, where she met and started her lifelong love affair with her husband Ira Deutsch. They were married on December 22, 1963 at Larchmont Temple.
She was a teacher at both the Mamaroneck Avenue School and in life. She worked and volunteered for the American Cancer Society of Westchester and was one of the founders of ACS’s Reach to Recovery program. She also ran support groups for other cancer survivors.
Susan is survived by her husband Ira, her three children Stephanie, Adam, and Kate, her daughter-in-law Samantha, her son-in-law Scott, and her 9 grandchildren James, Morgan, Nathan, Owen, Lily, Billie, Summer, Taylor, and Caleb.
She was known for her strength and smarts, and she will always be remembered for putting up a heroic and fearless fight against cancer.
