NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Spring is all about new beginnings.  Break the routine and explore your creative side! Our staff is in love with the encaustics workshop (we’re taking it again!). For adult and high school students: discover a new medium in Encaustic Painting, Oil Painting for Beginners, or an Intro to Watercolor workshop.   Start or end your day therapeutically by sinking your hands into clay with Ceramics in the Morning or Ceramics in the Evening.

Everyone learns differently. With hands-on digital art-making, kids can easily absorb STEM concepts with Intro to STEM with LEGO, Young Graphic Designers, or 3D Printing and Design.  For tiny artists there are fun Mommy and Me and Pre-K Art classes (and the mess is ours to worry about, not yours!).  Bigger kids can hone their skills in Still Life Painting & Drawing, Pop Art and Advanced Painting, Drawing and Mixed Media. And don’t forget about our Spring Break Camp for ages 3-7, featuring an art and storytelling “Travel the World” theme, and a fun Week-long Collage Class for ages 8-13, April 10-14.

High School students may take any adult class.  And for art students who need to build their portfolios for college, or adults that want to give drawing or painting a try, there’s Fashion Figure Drawing and Portfolio Development with Donna Ross, Beginning Drawing with Sylvia Vigliani and Beginners’ Drawing and Painting with Dr. Jill Kiefer. Or, explore mixed media and collage with Nancy Nikkal’s popular Create with Collage class!

For artists with busy schedules we have a variety of one-session workshops to choose from: Intro to Encaustic Painting with Katharine Dufault, Creative Journaling with Jackie Meier, and a special spring treat – En Plein Air Landscape Drawing at Bartow Pell with Frank Guida. For those of you heading to Derby Day on May 6th, our Derby Day Fascinator workshop is just what you’ll need to be dressed-to-impress with a unique and eye-catching headpiece.

These are just a few of the many exciting classes available for all ages.  Registration is open now.  For information and registration go to Pelhamartcenter.org/education, or call 738 2525 x111. Stop by anytime for a catalog at 155 Fifth Ave.

And remember, while your kids are having fun, they are also improving social and motor skills, personal expression, visual communication and application for digital skills. Statistics show that children involved in the arts improve academically.  PAC instructors are great teachers, as well as professional artists in their associated mediums – so inspiring children, youth and adults alike comes naturally.

Need-based scholarships are available to all students who qualify.
