NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Lyric soprano Coralie Gallet and pianist José García-León will perform a classical concert celebrating the advent of spring on Sunday, March 26, 2017, from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library. The program will feature vocal and piano music from the Italian, Spanish and French repertoire, with works by Vivaldi, Ravel, Falla, Poulenc, among others. A donation of $2.00 is suggested at the door. The concert is made possible by the Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library
Lyric soprano Coralie Gallet has been recognized for her versatility, her musicianship and her interpretative skills, and is also an active vocal recitalist with a highly diverse repertoire. Ms Gallet has appeared in leading operatic roles in The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro, Carmen, Susannah, Hansel and Gretel and Dido and Aeneas and operas by Monteverdi, Handel and Richard Strauss, as well as in contemporary works including the New York premiere of Bruno Rigacci’s Eccuba. After graduating with honors from the University of Nantes, Ms Gallet left her native France to come to New York to pursue her musical studies. Ms Gallet received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music and her Master’s degree from Brooklyn College.
Dr. García-León is an accomplished pianist who has been a first prize winner of numerous national and international competitions. He received his D.M.A. and M.M. in piano performance with a music theory concentration from the Manhattan School of Music. Born in Seville, Spain, he graduated with highest honors from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Sevilla. Dr. García-León has performed extensively as a solo recitalist in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, and at the Saint Petersburg Music Festival, the Suolahti Summer Festival in Finland, the Shandelee Showcase Series in New York, the Marienbad International Festival in the Czech Republic, among many others. He also has performed in Croatia, Ireland, Thailand, Chile, France, and throughout Spain. As a music scholar, he has presented his research at international music conferences throughout the United States, Greece, South Korea, and Argentina. In July, 2014, he was appointed Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at The Juilliard School.
