NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle (CNR) has announced the election of Sister Kathleen Finnerty, OSU, to its Board of Trustees.
Sister Kathleen, a CNR alumna, is currently Superior of the Ursuline Community at the Province Center in New Rochelle. She also provides new principal mentoring for Catholic elementary and high school students and is a Board member of Ursuline Academy in Wilmington, Delaware and Iona Prep in New Rochelle.
With extensive background in education, Sister Kathleen has held previous positions as Associate Superintendent for Governance for the Diocese of Brooklyn; Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of New Orleans; and Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Wilmington, Delaware. Prior to that, Sister Kathleen was a parochial school principal and teacher for the Archdiocese of New York, Diocese of Ogdensburg, New York; and Archdiocese of Washington in Bethesda, Maryland.

Sister Kathleen received a bachelor’s degree at The College of New Rochelle, with a major in English and math. She also earned a master’s degree in education administration from Villanova University and a master’s degree in religious studies at Fordham University. Sister Kathleen has served on a dozen boards and committees since 2000 for various education-based organizations.
Additionally, Sister Kathleen has received numerous recognitions over the years, including the CityBusiness “Women of the Year” Award and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Anne Awards for work with young women and adults in scouting. She has also presented during conventions and symposiums, including the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) Convention in New Orleans where she made a presentation on banking, financing, student records and communications.
“Sister Kathleen’s experience and wisdom will be a great addition to the diverse skill sets of Board of Trustees,” added Adolph. “Her knowledge about higher education, as well as finance and communications, enriches The College of New Rochelle today and is essential to help secure the futures of our students of tomorrow.”
