NRPD Issues Alert for Man for Attempting to Run Down New Rochelle Police Officer Following Stop

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle Police are looking for a man who attempted to run over an NRPD officer early Sunday morning. The incident occurred at about 4 a.m.

New Rochelle Police have broadcast a county-wide “hotline” or BOLO alert to other police departments for a suspect identified as Joseph Cicelli (sp.?), date of birth, 5/6/96, Male/White, 5′ 8″, hazel eyes.

According to police the suspect is driving a 2016 4-door black Honda Civic with Connecticut Combination plates, tag AC97415.

According to the Connecticut DMV web site, Combination Registration/Plates means “the type of registration and plates issued to a motor vehicle which is used for both private passenger and commercial purposes if that vehicle does not have a gross vehicle weight in excess of 12,500 pounds.”

In the BOLO alert, police said suspect “fled from a detail stop. Attempted to run over a police officer at Stephenson Boulevard and Main Street”

UPDATE 3/14/17: Joseph B. Circelli of 28 Wood Creek Rd in New Fairfield CT ,with his attorney present, turned himself in Monday afternoon. He was charged with Reckless Endangerment, and Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident, both misdemeanors.
