NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Marc Jerome, new President of Monroe College, will be guest at the next gathering of Coffee and Conversation, Friday, April 21, at 9:30 a.m. in the Meeting Room of the New Rochelle Public Library, 1 Library Plaza, sponsored by the New Rochelle League of Women Voters.

Coffee and Conversation is an ongoing series of informal public gatherings sponsored by the League of Women Voter with guests discussing public issues. Coffee and light refreshments will be served at no charge.  For further information, call 914-632-8254.

Mr. Jerome is the third generation in his family to lead the proprietary college, which has campuses in downtown New Rochelle, the Bronx, Queens, and Santa Lucia. He had been a labor and employment lawyer in New York City before joining the College as Dean of Admissions and then Vice President.

His volunteer positions include Chairman of the New Rochelle Business Improvement District since 1999. He is a board member of the Westchester County Association and of the Association of Proprietary Colleges.

Monroe College, founded 83 years ago, is known for “delivering some of the country’s best outcomes for minority and low-income students.”  Mr. Jerome has championed the need to reduce unnecessary higher education student debt and has been critical of federal student lending policies and guidelines that contribute to current student debt burden.
