NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle songs and songwriters will be celebrated in a delightful concert on Saturday, May 6th, at 3:00 pm, in the Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library. The “Sing Your Heart Out” Chorus, under the direction of Robert Puleo, will perform a program of songs about New Rochelle, including Forty-five Minutes from Broadway, and songs written by former New Rochelle residents, such as Sunrise, Sunset, from Fiddler on the Roof, by Jerry Boch and Joseph Stein, Vincent, by Don McLean, Send in the Clowns, by Stephen Sondheim, and many more.
Following the concert, the public is invited to a reception with light refreshments. A donation of $2.00
is suggested at the door. The concert is made possible by the Lillian Robbins and Rick Englander Memorial Fund.
The concert will serve as a lead-up to the 2017 New Rochelle Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony, which will take place on Friday, May 12, at 3:30 pm, pm in Ruby Dee Park at Library Green. The 2017 luminaries being inducted are actresses Lillian and Dorothy Gish, actress Claire Trevor, artist Reginald Marsh, Dr. Henry J. Heimlich, and seven NFL players who lived in New Rochelle, (Frederick (Fritz) Douglass Pollard, Kyle Rote, Fran Tarkenton, Matt Snell, George Starke, Ray Rice, and Courtney Greene.)
