NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The City of New Rochelle celebrated Arbor Day by planting two willow trees in Huguenot Park, on the corner of Eastchester Road and North Avenue on Friday, April 28. Mayor Noam Bramson, City Manager Chuck Strome, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Bill Zimmermann and Arborist Paul Rebholz were joined by children from the Preschool Learning Center and students from New Rochelle High School science teacher Dr. Patrick Cushing’s Flora and Fauna class.
“Trees provide many benefits to our community,” said Mayor Noam Bramson “Thanks to our newly approved capital budget, New Rochelle is on track to meet the goal of 10,000 new public trees by 2030.”
Domenick Bulfamante & Sons donated flower seeds, which were handed out to the children after the celebration. This event was coordinated by Roisin Grzegorzewski as part of the City’s ongoing sustainability effort. This year will mark New Rochelle’s 26th year as a proud Tree City community!
