Davis Holds First Daddy-Daughter Dance

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Davis Elementary held its first Daddy-Daughter Dance last month, attracting dozens of families and bringing fun and excitement to the school community.

Approximately 180 girls participated in the dance that was held in the school gym last Friday. Balloons and streamers adorned the venue, a DJ played music, and pizzas, heroes and snacks were served.

A photo booth was set up for daddy-daughter pictures.

The event was the brainchild of Brian Rubin, a Davis father, who also chaired the event. He had been seeing social media posts about Daddy-Daughter dances at other places and wished there was one at Davis. He proposed a dance at a PTA meeting, and got a thumbs up.

The dance was inclusive. Grandfathers and uncles came if fathers were not able to attend for any reason. Most men wore blazers, and most girls wore dresses. Each girl got a stemmed red rose.

“It was so awesome. There was so much excitement in the air,” said Rubin, who has two daughters at Davis. “I’m hoping it will become an annual event.”
