WHITE PLAINS, NY — AJC Westchester/Fairfield announced it will be awarding a Lifetime of Distinguished Leadership Award to a pillar of the Jewish community, Eugene M. Grant, which will be presented to him by last year’s recipient and good friend, Bob Goodkind. The President of AJC Westchester/Fairfield, Beverly B. Rosenbaum will be presented with a Distinguished Leadership Award by former President and Dinner Co-Chair, Candy Gould. The Dinner Co-Chairs, Candy Gould and Stuart Ginsberg will emcee the evening. The program will focus on the 50th Anniversary of the Six-Day War and will feature a keynote address, entitled “6 Days, 50 Years –What’s Next?” by AJC CEO David Harris. Additional toasts will be made by Beverly Rosenbaum’s husband, Michael Rosenbaum, and their daughter, Ilana, who will be visiting from Israel. The Gala will take place at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in White Plains on May 18th starting at 6:00 p.m. Limited press passes available.

Eugene M. Grant has been a stalwart of the Jewish community with his inspirational leadership and generous philanthropy. He is Founding Chairman of the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center, past General Campaign Chair of UJA, a Life Trustee of the Jewish Museum of NY, past President of the Jewish Week, past Chairman of Jewish Outreach institute, Trustee of the Israel Tennis Centers, and Benefactor of the Jewish Studies Program and the Kelsey Museum at the University of Michigan. He is a Trustee of the Medici Archive Project and established its Eugene Grant Research Program on Jewish History and Culture in Early Modern Europe. He is also a Trustee of the Albright Institute of Archaeology Research, the Center for Security Policy, and the Richard Tucker Foundation. He is a past Governor of the Real Estate Board of NY, Trustee and Treasurer for the Realty Foundation of NY, and a Member of the Advisory Council of the Real Estate Institute of NYU. Gene is a Board Member of the Metropolitan Opera Association, and a Member of the Real Estate Council of Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He is an honorary Member of AJC’s National Board of Governors and was honored by AJC in 1995.
Outside of AJC, Gene graduated from the University of Michigan and Columbia Law School, and is a member of the New York Bar. In World War II, he served with a Fighter Group of the U.S. Air Force in the European Theater of Operations, emerging as a Major by the war’s end. On return to civilian life, Gene entered the real estate and construction field. He is President of Eugene M. Grant & Company, a NY real estate investment and development firm which builds, owns, and manages commercial properties throughout the U.S.
Gene is married to Emily, and they have three daughters who share his love of music, skiing, camping, archaeology, and tennis. They have three grandchildren.
Beverly Rosenbaum is a passionate leader in in the Jewish community and serves as President of AJC Westchester/Fairfield. She has worked on many AJC committees including as Co-Chair of the Israel New Perspectives Committee, Chair of the Nominating Committee and of the Global Forum Committee, and as member of the Advancement Committee, the Project Interchange Committee, the College Campus Committee, and the Diplomatic Outreach Committee for which she serves as the Team Leader for Lithuania. Beverly also serves on AJC’s National Leadership Council and Board of Governors, and is a member of AJC’s Regional Offices Committee and Jewish Religious Equality Coalition Committee.
In addition, Beverly serves as a Board member of Westchester Jewish Council for many years, co-chaired its Israel Roundtable, and spearheaded its Building Bridges for Israel Initiative. An alumna of the Wexner Heritage Program for Jewish leadership, she is actively involved in UJA, served on AIPAC’s Westchester Council, and on the Boards of JCPA and of Westchester Hebrew High School. Beverly is a member of over many years, including as a Vice President, as Chair of Adult Education, Chair of the Israel Action Committee and Co-Chair of the annual Yom HaShoah program.
Beverly graduated with a BA from Cornell University and a JD from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She is married to Michael who is also a lawyer and an active member of AJC Westchester/Fairfield, and they live in Scarsdale. They are the proud parents of two grown children, Adam and his wife Shira, and Ilana who made aliyah to Israel last year. They recently became grandparents to their first grandchild, Meira Tova.
Gene Grant and Beverly Rosenbaum’s service to AJC, the Jewish people, and human rights for all has made a great impact on society and has been an inspiration to the many who act to follow in their footsteps.
