NEW YORK, NY — ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. (SRS), owner and operator of 34 stores throughout New York and New Jersey, today announced that its ninth annual Veterans Fundraising Campaign will kick off just in time for Memorial Day Weekend, on Friday, May 26, and will run through July 15. Donations will be collected at ShopRite stores throughout the Hudson Valley and Capital Regions in New York, along with three New Jersey ShopRite stores, to benefit several local veterans’ organizations within the communities its stores serve.

The success of the annual SRS Veterans Fundraising Campaign relies on the collaborative efforts and generosity of ShopRite customers, store associates and vendors. In addition to donations collected at checkout, stores raise additional funds by organizing events including 5K runs and walks, food drives, raffles and more. In 2016, ShopRite raised $765,000 to benefit local veterans’ organizations, and has raised more than $2.8 million since the campaign’s 2009 inception.

“We are thrilled to announce our ninth campaign to support local veterans’ organizations throughout our communities,” said Tom Urtz, vice president of operations, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. “Giving back to our local communities is extremely important to us, and we are especially proud of the funds raised by our annual veterans campaign, as it allows us to say thank you to those who have served our country and selflessly given so much. We are grateful for the generosity of our great customers and dedicated associates who help make each campaign a success, and we look forward to continuing that trend for years to come.”

The 2017 campaign will benefit local veterans’ organizations including, but not limited to:

Tower of Hope – Funds training and care for expertly trained service dogs and pairs those dogs with disabled veterans in need of physical and psychological support.
