Police Investigating Suspicious Death of 7 Year Old Girl in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Police Department is currently investigating the suspcious death of a young girl. This afternoon at approximately 3:18 p.m.were called to the home on Arbor Glen on a report of a male bleeding from wounds to his wrists. Inside the home, officers discovered the body of a 7-year old girl in her bed apparently deceased. The cause of death has not yet been determined. This according to a statement issued by the New Rochelle Police Department. 

The male, believed to be the girl’s father, was taken by police and ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

The Westchester County Medical Examiner and District Attorney’s Offices are involved in this investigation.

 “This is an active investigation so no further information will be provided at this time,” said Sergeant Theresa Christopher of the New Rochelle Police.

The New Rochelle Board of Education terminated their school board meeting early in order to allow adminsitrators to respond to the incident.

The student was a second grader at Ward Elementary School.

UPDATE: Multiple sources telling Talk of the Sound the man taken to the hospital is Neil G. White. His wife is Michelle-Hord White, an executive at NBC Universal. They were married in 2007.

Court records indicate that Michelle Hord-White filed divorce papers on April 25, 2017.

Sources tell Talk of the Sound that White was served divorce papers today.

Police sources talking on background say the girl’s body showed signs of suffocation and stab wounds.

The City School District of New Rochelle and Ward School are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of one of our students. The student’s family is in all of our thoughts and prayers.

Students will respond to this tragedy in various ways. It is important for both schools and families to support them by listening to them carefully and helping them through their feelings.

We are prepared to open Ward School tomorrow morning (Wednesday) with a crisis team in place that includes grief counselors to assist our staff and students.
