NEW ROCHELLE, NY — 9/11: Serve + Remember is an annual day of service presented by Volunteer New York! and Westchester County to honor the lives of those lost or forever changed by the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.

This year several 9/11: Serve + Remember projects will benefit local New Rochelle nonprofits and will take place in New Rochelle from Saturday, September 9th through Monday, September 11th. To see the list and register for these events please visit www.volunteernewyork.org/newrochelle  or call 914-948-4452.

“This is an opportunity for all members of the New Rochelle community to come together in the spirit of unity, determination and remembrance,” said New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson. “Whether you are making literacy kits for underprivileged children, engaging with senior citizens, helping to restore the Boys & Girls Club, or volunteering for the 5th Annual New Rochelle Street Fair, we can all do our part to build a stronger community in which everybody counts.”

Last year more than 1,300 local volunteers contributed back over 2000 hours in remembrance of 9/11. For more information and to register, please visit http://volunteernewyork.org/newrochelle
