Stabbing Incident in Department Store Parking Garage in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A person was stabbed in the head and chest on Saturday evening at about 8 p.m. in what police are describing as a robbery on the first floor of the parking garage about a 100 feet away from the entrance to the outsMarshall’s Department Store on Potter Avenue in New Rochelle.

The victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center. There was no word on the medical condition of the victim.

The suspect, described as a male/black fled to an exit on the far side of the parking garage near where stairs lead out towards the Potter Avenue Bridge.

New Rochelle Police set up a crime scene area on the first floor of the parking garage. In the center of the area marked off by yellow crime scene tape was a black carry-on luggage bag.

UPDATE 11:17 PM: Bethany Saccomanno Bevilacqua posted on the Facebook, “It was the stairwell in the far corner near Potter ave. I was there and saw him (the victim) was from that end of the lot…felt so bad for him! He was apparently cut with a razor pretty bad! I’m pretty sure it happened on Potter ave and he walked through the lot for help!!”

UPDATE 11:22 PM: New Rochelle Police would not comment on the incident as it is a pending investigation.

UPDATE 10/11 9:45 AM: New Rochelle Police Release Statement on Gunpoint Robbery and Stabbing at Marshall’s Parking Garage 

On Oct 7, 2017 at 7:53pm, New Rochelle Police Officers responded to the parking garage of 200 Petersville Rd on a reported stabbing/robbery. They located a male victim who claimed to have been robbed at gunpoint by a black male. The victim sustained a bump to his forehead, and several minor slash type lacerations to his torso and one laceration to his arm.  The victim could not provide more details at the time and was conveyed by ambulance to a local hospital.  Officers located the victim’s wallet (which he states was missing a sum of money) and cell phone during a search of the parking lot stairwell
