WHITE PLAINS, NY — Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. today announced that Jason Myers (DOB 12/9/83) of Mt. Vernon, NY has been found guilty of:

•one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a class “C” Felony

•one count of Concealment of a Human Corpse, a class “E” Felony in the death of Ashley McDuffie.

On or about August 23, 2016, the Mt. Vernon Police Department was contacted by a family member of the victim to report she was missing.

Three days later, Myers confessed to police that he killed McDuffie and dumped her body in the area of 233rd Street and Monticello Avenue in a heavily-wooded area in Seton Falls Park in the Bronx.

Members of the New York City Police Department recovered the body which was wrapped in plastic bags and a comforter taken from McDuffie’s home. The body had been dumped over a guardrail, dragged down a hill and hidden behind a tree limb and a large rock.

An autopsy conducted by the New York City Medical Examiner concluded that the cause of death was asphyxia due to compression of the neck.

Myers is set to be sentenced on December 14th and faces up to 15 years in state prison.

First Deputy District Attorney Patricia Murphy and Assistant District Attorney James Bavero of the Superior Court Trial Division prosecuted the case.
