NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Special Education PTA (SEPTA) is accepting nominations for its 2018 “We Are One” Awards, which recognize and honor people in the district who ensure students with special needs are included in all aspects of the school and greater New Rochelle community.

The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, Feb. 28. Awards will be presented at the May 3 “We Are One” awards dinner. A separate award will recognize students who include special needs children in activities and friendships.

Everyone is invited to submit a nomination highlighting the district’s teachers, administrators and staff who enrich the lives of children with disabilities and learning challenges by fostering inclusion and bringing out the best in their students.

People are also encouraged to submit nominations for SEPTA’s “Bridges Community Award,” which honors an individual or organization within the community, outside the school district, who demonstrates a commitment to helping those with special needs.

Nominations can be submitted online or by mailing the information to New Rochelle SEPTA, 1333a North Ave., #715, New Rochelle, N.Y., 10804.

Those who wish to learn more or have additional questions should email SEPTA Co-Presidents Alise Liquorie at alisemax@aol.com; or Gina Egan at egan1t2@yahoo.com.
