NEW YORK, NY — The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance today advised taxpayers to save time by getting online to check the status of their income tax refunds.
“If you’re eager to find out the status of your claim for an income tax refund, use the Check your Refund tool on our website: www.tax.ny.gov,” said Acting Commissioner Nonie Manion. “It’s the fastest and most convenient way to know when to expect your refund.”
To use this online application, you’ll need to enter the refund amount you’re claiming, your Social Security number, and which form you filed.
The online application will provide you with the same information as our Tax Department phone representatives. However, it’s the best way to check your refund status, because you wont have to wait in the phone queue, plus the application is available around the clock.
The second best way to find out the status of your refund is to use our automated phone line (518-457-5149), which is also available anytime and provides the same information that you would receive from one of our phone representatives
