NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle High School junior wrestler Jake Logan ended a perfect season by winning the state title in the 182-pound class on Saturday at the Times Union Center in Albany.

“It may be cliché, but it’s surreal,” Logan told The Journal News. “It’s awesome. It’s something I’ve worked for as long as I can remember.”

Logan won a 5-3 decision against Jacob Ferreira of Horace Greeley at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Wrestling Championships. Both Section 1 wrestlers, Ferreira had been a rival with Logan this season as they had met four times, with Logan winning all matches on his way to a 41-0 record. In fact, no opponent took him down.

Logan is the second New Rochelle wrestler ever to win a state championship. In 2011, Malcolm Allen won a state championship in the 285-pound class.
