NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Hudson duo of flutist Morgan Pappas and guitarist Daniel Keene will perform “Earthly Elements,” a rich concert of music to delight the senses, on Sunday, April 22, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, in the Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library. The program will feature pieces that invoke water, wind and fire, including works by composers Toru Takemitsu, Robert Beaser, and Jose Manuel Lezcano, and selections such as Toward the Sea, Mountain Songs, and Sonatina Tropical. The concert, ideal for Earth Day, will be followed by a reception.
Morgan Pappas is a versatile flutist, chamber musician, and music educator, who has performed with numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles at venues such as David Geffen Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Symphony Space. She has toured internationally throughout the United States, Europe, Northern Africa, and Mexico, and has debuted several pieces at Carnegie Hall. In 2016 Morgan graduated with a Master of Music in Flute Performance from Aaron Copland School of Music, where she studied with Susan Rotholz and was the recipient of the Dorothy and Morris Grosser Woodwind Award, and Ronald Roseman Award. Morgan graduated cum laude with a Bachelors of Music from New York University.
Daniel Keene is a guitarist, lutenist, chamber musician, and educator. He is currently on the faculty at Nassau Community College where he teaches courses in music theory and guitar. Daniel has concertized extensively in New York and along the East Coast performing at a multitude of venues, halls, and universities, and has collaborated with composers all over the globe, premiering many new works. He studied lute and guitar with William Zito, guitar with Stephen Leonard and Jerry Willard, composition with Sidney Boquiren and Paul Moravec, and worked with tenor Jonathan Goodman and pianist Susan Sobolewski on musical interpretation.
