NEW YORK, NY — The New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce today announced that nominations are now open for the organization’s 17th annual Women of Excellence awards. Each year, the Chamber honors approximately four to five women whose efforts have made meaningful contributions to the vibrancy of the New Rochelle community. Nominees may live or work in New Rochelle, or they may be former residents who continue to make a significant impact on the city.
Nomination categories include: business/professional; entrepreneurial; humanitarian; community leadership; and exceptional community service. Named after Muriel Zaukas who was one of the original women to start the awards ceremony, the annual Muriel Zaukas Woman of Outstanding Achievement Award is the main award and is given for exceptional community involvement.
“Each of the women who we previously honored at this dinner is extraordinary,” said Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Jennifer Lanser. “We are thrilled to offer the community this easy online nomination form to continue the search for these great women who are considered excellent not only for their achievements, but also for the influence they have on the lives of others.”
Entries for the nomination period will be accepted from now through May 18th, and can be completed online at http://newrochellechamber.org/women-of-excellence-nomination-form/ . Nominations are reviewed by a committee of past Women of Excellence honorees and the Executive Board of the Chamber of Commerce. The honorees will be announced in the first week of June in preparation of the award dinner to take place in November where the Chamber of Commerce will also give out a scholarship to an outstanding female High School Senior in New Rochelle.
