NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Task Force on Reducing Violence in the Lives of Children and Youth completed its work on May 30th when Dr. Jonathon Brice presented their final report to the New Rochelle Board of Education and the New Rochelle City Council.
When the Task Force membership was announced, Talk of the Sound made a Freedom of Information request for the list of applicants. We looked over the applicant list to see how many of those on the Task Force applied to be on the task force.
There are 276 names on the list.
46 people were named to the Task Force of which 10 were not on the applicant list (Jared Rice, Al Tarantino, Kelly Johnson, Robert Gazzola , Terrence Fudge, Ever Mack, Francisco Maldonado, Andrew Sorota).
24 of the 46 selectees were grouped as “parents” but a large number of the “parents” were also employees of other school districts or in related fields.

The list of 276 applicants contains several interesting names.
Three former board members (Quay Watkins, Pearl C. Quarles and Martin Sanchez), two then-current board members (Jeffrey Hastie, Amy Moselhi) and one then-future board member (Christopher Daniello). Other noteworthy names on the list include former Special Education Director Yvette Goorevitch and Emery Schweig, who was removed from the library board after Talk of the Sound published a story that she had moved to Connecticut and so was no longer eligible for the New Rochelle Library Board of Trustees.
