NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A group of New Rochelle High School students who are members of My Brother’s Keeper New Rochelle received valuable life and career advice from four ESPN representatives last Friday.

The ESPN staffers spoke about hurdles they have faced and transcended, how valuable internships are in college and why you need to always bring your “A Game” to the workplace. They told of the skills needed to succeed and excel, the importance of networking and the rewards of developing the confidence to “take your shot” when the timing is right.

Bruce Jackson, a New Rochelle father as well as an executive at ESPN, made the connection that made the day possible. Other ESPN leaders who took part were Jamone “JJ” West, Darren Croxton and Deontre Gray.

“We are grateful to ESPN for creating this workshop for our MBK students,” said NRHS House II Principal Camille Edwards Thomas. “It’s important for our students to learn early on the skills they will need to succeed and be proactive about taking the right steps to reach their career goals.”
