NEW ROCHELLE, NY — On July 17, 2018, City Manager Chuck Strome and Mayor Noam Bramson congratulated the newest members of the New Rochelle Fire Department at the fire headquarters. After completing 17 weeks of training at the academy in Westchester, the City welcomed FF. Louis Riso, FF. Robert Pegues and two legacy families; second generation firefighter Ricardo Ramos JR., and third generation firefighter Ted Cordaro.
“We are very fortunate to have these young men join our department,” said New Rochelle Fire Chief Any Sandor. “It’s also great to know some of these men are continuing the family tradition.”
FF. Ricardo Ramos Jr. will be joining his father Lt. Ricardo Ramos Sr., who has currently been serving for 32 years.
The impetus for the Cordaro family was Ted’s grandfather Sal Cordaro Sr. who served for 38 years. FF. Ted Cordaro will also be joining his father FF. Sal Cordaro JR., and four uncles; LT. Christopher Cordaro, FF. Paul Cordaro, FF. Peter Cordaro and FF. Robert Cordaro. The Cordaro’s combined legacy totals 181 years!
