NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Here are some highlights from the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 4:
SAFETY PLAN: The District is inviting the community to comment on the draft 2018-2019 districtwide safety plan. The plan can be found under “Safety & Security Updates” on the District’s website, www.nred.org. Send comments to save@nredlearn.org. The Board of Education is expected to adopt a final plan by Oct. 15.
HIGH SCHOOL PLAN: New Rochelle High School Interim Principal Joseph Starvaggi outlined a set of policies, practices and initiatives to ensure that the school is “safe, productive, mindful and student-centered.”
SECURITY ASSESSMENT: Guidepost Solutions Regional Vice President Chris Grniet presented the findings of the global safety and security firm’s assessment of the District.
COMMITTEES: Board of Education President Jeffrey Hastie and Vice President Amy Moselhi announced that they had received an ample number of applications from community members asking to serve on two new Board committees, one addressing culture and climate in the District and the other on finance and facilities. They expect to select the members within two weeks.
