NEW ROCHELLE, NY — September is National Preparedness Month, serving as a reminder that we all must take action to prepare, now and throughout the year, for the types of emergencies that could affect us where we live, work, and visit.

The City of New Rochelle sends emergency alerts through our New Ro Alert messaging system. Through the portal, users can customize their preferred message delivery options such as text, email and/or phone calls to multiple phone numbers, including office and cell.

“The New Ro Alert messaging system is the backbone of our citywide communication effort, for emergency notification, as well as community updates and neighborhood outreach like road work and utility outages,” said Deputy City Manager Omar Small. “We urge all residents, businesses, and employees in New Rochelle to sign up and create a personal account today.”

The City regularly posts updates on social media: Facebook (@CityofNewRochelle), Twitter (@NewRochelleNY), Instagram (@NewRochelleNY) and Nextdoor (City of New Rochelle). And on the City website www.newrochelleny.com, users can customize their subscriptions to newsflashes, calendars and the City’s e-newsletter. The City’s website can be translated into a variety of languages using the “translate” button at the top of the home page.
