NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Jordan Forrest, a New Rochelle senior football co-captain, received last week’s Con Edison Athlete of the Week Award.

“It’s definitely a big honor,” Forrest said. He was inspired to play football because of his father and his brother Jonathan, who plays at the collegiate level now.

“The School District is very proud to have Jordan Forrest on its football team and is excited that he has been awarded with such an honor from Con Edison,” Interim Superintendent Dr. Magda Parvey said. “Jordan is a true leader both on and off the field and we wish him and the football team the best of luck on the rest of this season.”

Forrest is both a running back and a linebacker for the Huguenots. Through six games this year, he has 42 carries for 607 yards and 12 touchdowns as well as 15 tackles and one interception (returned for a touchdown). He had four rushes for 96 yards and two touchdowns against Mount Vernon on Sept. 29. A week earlier, against Yonkers, Forrest had two touchdowns including the interception. He is averaging 14.5 yards per carry.

As a junior, Forrest was named to the All-League and All-Conference Teams and was All-League as a sophomore as well.  Last year, he rushed for 450 yards, scored five touchdowns and was credited with 25 tackles on defense.  Forrest is a four-year member of the varsity football team and has twice been named captain of the team.

In addition to his achievements on the football field, Jordan is a member of the high school track team.  He is a member of the team’s 4 x 100 state champion relay team and placed fifth in the shot put at last spring’s championship meet.  As a sophomore, he was the Section One champion in the shot put in both the indoor and outdoor seasons as well as the Section One champion in the discus in the outdoor season.

He has received scholarship offers to play football at Harvard, Princeton, Brown, Holy Cross, Lehigh, Colgate, Morgan State, New Hampshire, Fordham and Central Connecticut State University. He is considering becoming an architect.NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Jordan Forrest, a New Rochelle senior football co-captain, received last week’s Con Edison Athlete of the Week Award.
