WHITE PLAINS, NY — Senior postal officials, family, and colleagues gathered early Tuesday morning, Dec. 18 at the U.S.P.S. Westchester Processing & Distribution Center in White Plains to recognize Registry Clerk Neil T. Brown for his 50 years of federal service.

Mr. Brown, who lives in New Rochelle with his wife Lorraine, received numerous accolades and awards for surpassing this remarkable 50-year milestone. Among the senior postal officials recognizing Mr. Brown were Northeast Area Vice President Edward F. Phelan Jr., Northeast Area Manager Operations Support Mark Dahlstrom,   Westchester District Manager/A Elvin Mercado, and Westchester Sr. Plant Manager/A Ted Goonan. The postal vice president presented Brown with the 50 year service award pin and congratulatory letter from Postmaster General Megan Brennan.

Prior to his postal career, Neil Brown served aboard naval vessels as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1973, he joined the U.S. Postal Service, first serving at the U.S.P.S. Westchester Sectional Center in Mount Vernon where he began as a Letter Sorting Machine operator. He also worked on a flat-sorting machine and as a dispatcher on the platform. His present position at the Westchester Processing & Distribution Center is Registry Clerk on the busy midnight shift. Registered Mail provides added protection for valuable and important mail with evidence of mailing and delivery. Neil has served as the “Reggie Clerk” for approximately 10 years.

Mr. Brown expressed pride in his job and for being part of a larger postal team who give their all to ensuring that the mail is processed correctly and gets delivered to customers in a timely fashion.

Brown also expressed gratitude for the many lifelong friends he made while working at the Postal Service. He extended his appreciation to all of his fellow workers who make the job easier by applying their own good work ethic in service and by their willingness to work together. He indicated this is how the job has always gotten done — even during the busiest of times.

Neil especially thanked his wife, Lorraine, for always being there.
